Peek a boo!!! It’s Cake a Boo!! Just a few days ago, another cute place has open to enliven PIK – Pantai Indah Kapuk Area. It is a cake and dessert specialize shop called Cake a Boo.

The interior is very playful with factory kind of concept and colorful exposed pipe on the ceiling and walls, another thing that will instantly caught your eyes when you entered this shop is their cake train that usually found in sushi restaurant. There are three colors of plate to indicate the price of the cake, lime green for IDR 25k, blue for IDR 30k and purple for IDR 35k.

It’s located in a row with Ikkousha ramen restaurant at PIK near Seorae. You can easily spot this cake shop thanks to the super eye catching decoration.

Besides miniature cakes, you can also find whole cakes, parfait ice cream and coffee here. All of the menu here are pretty affordable, for whole cake price range start from IDR 179k to IDR 289k and miniature cake from IDR 25k to IDR 35k.

All of the cake AnakJajan had are very enjoyable both for the eyes and taste bud. It was very moist and comes with a nice balance of ingredients combination. If we have to choose, our most favorite would be Cheese Trap, Watermelon Cake and Nutella Burger. Another thing that AnakJajan love is the sweetness level, all of the them have a very balance sweetness that definitely make you keep digging for more.

Well overall if you are looking for a place with cute concept and interior, nice tasty product and affordable price, Cake a Boo has it all. Let’s Jajan!!

Cranky Crab has been opened for a few months and they finally had their Grand Opening followed by the opening of Cranky Bar.

Basically there are two area inside Cranky Crab, first is restaurant area opened from 11am to 10pm (weekday) or 11 pm (weekend) and then the new funky Cranky Bar opened from 4pm to 1am (weekday) and 3am (weekend). Every weekend they have live acoustic performing from 7pm-10pm.

Cranky Crab is located not very far from Mall KelapaGading at Boulevard Raya street KelapaGading North Jakarta area, it is in the same building with Samudera Rasa and Happy Puppy.

Second floor of restaurant area have 4 VIP rooms, each rooms can fit maximum 20pax with karaoke facility. For bigger party, two VIP rooms can be combine, with maximum capacity of 40pax. They have special menu package base on number of people. This VIP rooms are great for corporate events, arisan and birthday party.

The restaurant area has a very cute ship ornaments with relaxed environment while the bar area has a huge glass walls and more funky decoration. Of course you all know where AnakJajan sat rite? Yess, of course besides the glass wall for extra natural light to be able to give you all inviting and tasty looking pictures :) Let’s get the food talk started.

Mix Bag 1 with Asian Addict Seasoning (Medium Spiciness) IDR 110k
Mix Bag 1 consist of crayfish, clams, mussels, shrimps, corn, sausage and potato as for the seasoning there are 3Louisiana style sauce selection that are Asian Addict, Lemon Pepper Junkie and Garlic Madness.

We love the Mix Bag because we can taste a lil bit of everything in one shot, all of the ingredients are fresh and cooked well.The portion itself was quite big, AnakJajan suggest you to share it for 2 or 3 persons.

AnakJajan’s Mix Bag 1 was seasoned with Asian Addict sauce, it was a rich savory kinda sauce with generous amount of black pepper in it.

As for the spiciness, there are 4 levels available: non spicy, mild, medium and cranky, we opted the medium level, there was some serious spicy kick but still in tolerable level for me.

Cranky Flying Beer, Citrus Mojito & Green Fairy IDR 39k
Cranky Bar serves plentiful selection of beer including local to worldwide beer. AnakJajan tried their unique Flying Beer with beer bottle served upside down. Citrus Mojito is more refreshing with the use of lime while Green Fairy is more fruity with kiwi flavor in it, both of them are equally delicious and recommended.

MudCrab with Black Pepper Sauce
Crab are available in 3 size: medium (6 ounce at IDR 220k), large(8 ounce at IDR 350k) and extra large (1kg plus price depend on the weight), besides the 3 western sauce selection, Cranky Crab also provides 5 types of Indonesian Heritage Sauce: KepitingAsap, Angsio, SausTiram, Saus Padang and Black Pepper.

Crab was super fresh and sweet, it tasted even better with sweet savory rich blackpepper sauce, hmmm fingers licking good!!

Fishnet Fries IDR 19.9k
To go with your seafood, you can have rice, sweet corn IDR 15k, steam/ friedmantao IDR 15k, crispy seasoned fries IDR 19.9k. Being ‘AnakKentang’ of course AnakJajan ordered fries. We had Fishnet Fries served with chili sauce and mayo.

Gyu Tan Don IDR 58k
One of Cranky Bar special dish is the famous Gyu Tan Don, catered from Melbourne kitchen. Rice bowl topped with thinly sliced beef tounge was quite tender with a nice springy texture and seasoned well with savory kind of sauce. You can request the level of spiciness (non-spicy, spicy, medium and cranky) or add scrambled egg for IDR 10k to make it perfect.

The reason why they are having Gyu Tan Don is because the owner of Cranky Crab, used to live in Melbourne for 7 years and she always craved for the Gyu Tan Don back then. Having sister who love to cooked, with her magic hands, finally fellow Melbournians could enjoy the closest flavor toMelbourne Gyu Tan Don.

Batter-Fried Squid Tossed with Salted Egg IDR 48k
Samudera Rasa is located in the same building with Cranky Crab and being on the same group of company, you can easily order any menu from Samudera Rasa at Cranky Crab or vice versa. This Batter-Fried Squid is very special it was crunchy and well cooked, unlike the usual deed fried battered squid they add salted egg yolk giving it an extra kick of savory flavor from the salted egg making it very hard to resist. Me likey!!

Kaci-Kaci Grilled Fish IDR 14.9k/ounce
Unlike any usual grilled fish with unhealthy burnt part, Samudera Rasa has a very special way to grill their fish, they wrap the fish with leaves and then grilled for 20 minutes to produce a juicy tender well grilled fish without any burnt part, customer could choose one from 4 different types of Makassar style sauce.
AnakJajan had our fish with ricamerah, parape, ricakuning and samudera-rasa sauce, each and every sauce has its own characteristic it’s hard to decide which one our favorite. Btw customer also can get freeflow of sambal dabu2 set self served at sambal corner.

Batter-Fried Boxfish (Kudu-Kudu Fish) IDR 18.9k/ounce
Meat from Kudu2 fish was cut into small pop corn bite size, battered and deep fried. The fish was tender inside with a nice non greasy crunchy batter outside, taste even better when you dip it in to their homemade sweet spicy that has a bit sour kick to balance the fried fish.

Btw, Cranky Crab and Samudera Rasa is located in the same building with Happy Puppy, you can easily find the building because it is decorated with flashy colorful LED lights you can easily spot it from a great distance. Let’s Jajan!!

Calling all fans of Bak Kut Teh!! Because Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh from Singapore is opening its first outlet in Jakarta.

Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh opened its outlet in North Jakarta since last week. AnakJajan are very happy having another tasty Bak Kut Teh restaurant from Singapore opening near our home. It’s located at Pluit Putra Raya near Garuda Padang restaurant (ex Cosi building) with a huge signage that you can easily spot from distance.

Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh has an inspiring story, the founder Jabez is actually an ex-offender with 13 years of imprisonment. During his time in prison, he slowly learn his cooking skill starting from dishwasher till became a main chef and later on he came up with a recipe of Bak Kuh teh and manage to achieve success with his own restaurants.

Talking about the food, the signature menu here certainly is Bak Kut Teh or pork ribs dish, the interesting part here is they have two types of Bak Kut Teh, soup version and dried version.

Bak Kut Teh IDR 65k (Small) / IDR 85k (Large)
Unlike the teochew style of bak kuh teh with garlicky peppery soup, bak kut teh soup at Soon Huat is rather diferent. If you notice the picture below, you can see that the soup color has brownish color, it has a nice savory flavor with subtle aroma of spices. AnakJajan personally love this version of bak kut teh, the soup is absolutely comforting, warming and making me unable to stop from sipping it especially during raining season. Inside the broth you will find enoki mushroom, tofu skin and of course the pork ribs. The pork ribs were very tender and easily fall of the bone.

Dried Bak Kut Teh IDR 68k (Small) / IDR 88k (Large)
Fascinating version of bak kuh teh because unlike the soup one, it’s kinda hard to find many places in Jakarta that serves it. The pork ribs are cooked again with special sauce and dried chili. That golden color toppings is actually a fried cuttlefish (‘juhi’), it gives a special kick of aroma to this dish. Pork ribs were similar with the soup one, very tender and easily fall of the bone and AnakJajan love the a nice caramelized sweet yet savory seasoning in it.

Dried Trotter IDR 62k (Small)/ IDR 82k (Large)
Besides the regular braised version, you can have the dried version of trotter that will be cooked until dried and caramelized. It is a very nice trotter dish, with tender and well absorbed seasoning.

Mee Sua with Sliced Pork IDR 29k // Plain Mee Sua IDR 15k
As a companion to the bak kuh teh, besides rice you can also have mee sua, thin Chinese noodle made from wheat flour. Plentiful of side dishes are also available such as Fried Dough (Cakwe) IDR 12k, Broccoli with Mushroom IDR 28k, Braised Tow Ki IDR 38k, etc.

Braised Tow Ki IDR 38k
The unique presentation of this side dish instantly caught my eyes. It’s made of dried tofu skin with a nice thin layers seasoned with braised sauce. The crunch texture is unique and quite different with the usual tofu skin we usually find in Jakarta, must try.

Overall, Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh offers an interesting and comforting flavor of bak kuh teh dish, AnakJajan can definitely see us coming back for more. If you are a big fan of bak kuh teh, you should give it a try. Let’s Jajan!!

Hello meat monster!! How do you like your burger?? Me and Mr. Jajan both are a huge fan of burger, we love our burger with soft bun and huge meat patty with generous amount of melting cheese in it and we are very pleased that The Republic of Burger has it all!

Here in The Republic of Burger, small portion of meat patty is a big no no!! Their normal portion of burger is 250gr home-made patty made from 100% Australian premium Wagyu Beef seasoned and grilled directly by order. But of course if you have limited tummy space, don’t worry because here they also serve Junior size of burger with 150gr meat patty for IDR 38k to IDR 42k.

At this moment you can visit The Republic of Burger at Cipete and Bintaro outlet, they are also opening very very soon at Kemang, will keep you updated later when it’s opening.

The Poutine Monster IDR 39k
As I’ve always said, I’m a huge fan of potato!! Anything potato related will make me crazy and this one is not an exception, love it!! 350gr fresh cut Canadian fries drizzled with their homemade Volcano sauce and bockwurst sausage. The volcano sauce is phenomenal! Spicy yet tasty and addicting. Btw they also serve burger with this spicy sauce if I’m not mistaken, so gonna get burger with volcano sauce for next visit!

Nutella Freeze IDR 39k
This is one of the signature and recommended drink here made from Nutella, chocolate ice cream and low fat milk. It has a balance creaminess and sweetness with chocolatey, milky and nutty flavor combination.

Summer Breeze IDR 29k
Refreshing and fruity drink with lovely color combination, red from grenadine syrup, orange from orange juice and blue from soda water.

The Republican Monster IDR 76k
Messy messy good!! 250gr Australian premium Wagyu beef grilled patty topped with double melted cheddar cheese and crispy sliced bacon. There are several sauce options for the sauce, we opted for black pepper sauce with savory flavor and warm peppery kick in it.

The beef patty itself was tender, moist and juicy with a great seasoning in it not to mention the huge portion while the bun was soft and fluffy. Combination between beef patty and bun itself already tasty, it became even better by adding melting cheese, and crispy bacon in it, no wonder this one is one of their best seller.

Another thing that I love from The Republic of Burger is they use organic vegetables and all of the menu here contain no MSG, no chemicals and any other harmful preservatives.

Juicy Lucy Monster IDR 70k
This one is very special because the 250gr beef patty is stuffed with melted cheese inside, my oh my!! Heavenly! Similar with the burger above, the patty also tender, moist and juicy with soft bun.

See the juicy patty and melted cheese inside?? I’m sure that you are now drooling right now?? Don’t worry, I’m also drooling until my keyboard wet already while writing this post :D

Fries is served as side dish to go with the burger, we had waffle fries but you can choose Aussie fries, waffle, curly or pompoms fries as you wish.

Overall, tasty burger, great portion and affordable price. If you are a big fan of burger, we are very sure that you will enjoy it as much as we did. Let’s Jajan!!

AnakJajan always love the idea of having high tea. We just cannot say no to having relaxing afternoon with aromatic cup of tea and delightful hors d’oeuvre.

Every saturday and sunday afternoon time, Portico provides High tea from 3 to 6 pm for IDR 165k++/pax which already including coffee or tea and snacks.

Portico provides pretty decent selection of sweet and savory high tea snacks.For the sweet menu you can try Apple Cherry, Crepes with Vanilla Cream and Peach Filling, Jelly Spaghetti, Frozen Strawberry Cream Cheese, Banoffee Pie in a Jar, Strawberry Panna cotta, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Apple Crumble and assorted chocolates while the savory menu they have Balinese Satay, Mini Sandwich, Beef Skewer, Salmon Roll, Frikandel Puff Pastry and Mini Spring Roll. Since we were quite full during that time, we didn’t try all of it but we have our favorite which are Banoffee Pie in a Jar and Mini Spring Roll.

As I mentioned earlier the high tea is including coffee or tea but I would recommend you to try their tea because they serves my favorite brand of tea which is Gryphon available in many flavors. My favorite flavor would be the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, do you know any where else that serves Gryphon tea??

Overall AnakJajan must say that the presentation of this High Tea buffet is pretty lovely with many colorful and shape combination, just look at the lips shape chocolate, so adorable rite? Let’s Jajan!!

Last month is the 1st Anniversary of VIN+ Seminyak Bali and they are celebrating it with intimate dinner with friends and family of VIN+.

As you all might know already, VIN+ is a pioneer when it comes to wine and besides Jakarta, they are also having a branch at Bali Seminyak area. The herb aroma blended really well it did’t overpower the whole dish. In fact it was a balance sauce from the use of cream and pesto herbs.

The chicken was well grilled and seasoned, it was juicy and flavorful, taste even better when you dip it with the sauce, white sauce for creamy flavor and tomato sauce for tangy refreshing flavor or try mixing both of the sauces for more flavor option.

Perfect dish for cheese and creamy dish lover. Macaroni was seasoned with creamy sauce with generous amount of melting cheese on top, the seasoning itself was balance and nice I could eat the whole Macaroni Cheese myself.

Grilled Oxtail with Rice IDR 55k
Indonesian food at Pan & Flip is something that you must not miss because they seriously know how to cook Indonesian food well. Grilled oxtail served with melinjo crackers, pickles, rice, chili sauce and soup. The soup was comfortable and full of flavor at the same time, it has a great spices mix in it, sooo fragrant. Grilled oxtail itself was also tender and well seasoned with sweet based seasoning.

Nasi Uduk Komplit IDR 27.2k
My oh my!! Our favorite dish of the day!! ‘uduk’ fragrant rice with fried chicken, fried tofu, fried tempe or soycake, sambal and chicken liver/ gizzard. The rice itself already taste so good I seriously can eat whole plate of it without any condiment or side dish. All of the side dishes and condiments are also taste so good individually especially the well marinated fried chicken, supahh satisfying! Next time I want to order this menu for myself and won’t share it with anyone including Mr. Jajan :)

Banana Choco Caramel Pancake IDR 20k
Pancake and waffle are Pan & Flip’s signature and must order menu. For each flavor you can order whether you want to have it with pancake or waffle. Pancake topped with banana slices, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Taste the best when it’s hot.

Choco Chip Waffle IDR 18.1k
Chocolate based waffle topped with one scoop of chocolate ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The outer part of waffle was crunchy while soft on the inside.

Strawberry Pancake IDR 18.1k
How can I say no to fluffy and not too sweet pancake that paired perfectly with homemade refreshing sweet and sour strawberry, vanilla ice cream and strawberry fruit? Another exciting part is it’s freaking affordable for a portion of pancake/waffle with one scoop of ice cream.

Overall AnakJajan are impressed by the flavor from all the meals we had at Pan & Flip, in fact we are seriously already planning to come back soon. Let’s Jajan!!

Yayy!! Another new cute dessert cafe at Pantai Indah Kapuk has opened, North Pole Cafe.

North Pole Cafe is located in the middle of PIK, across Sate Khas Senayan Pantai Indah Kapuk. The interior inside is lovely, I always love the simple combination between white, walls, wooden furniture and a bit of color combination. Inside the cafe, you can see the cute mural drawing on the wall hand painted by the owners, kawaii!!

North Pole Cafe is a cafe specialized in Gelato, Coffee and Waffle, soooo you can bring along your non dessert friends to enjoy cup of coffee here too. If you notice their logo, you can see super cute three little husky dogs called Coco, Waff and Cream, cuteness overload!

Smoky Pan IDR 68k
This one instantly caught my eyes when I was ordering because of its super colorful yet kawaii presentation. It’s consist of 6 flavors of gelato, sorbet and ice cream in a smoky pan with whipped cream and fruity pebbles on the side.

Inside the Smoky Pan, you can find 6 flavors which are lemon, bubble gum, thai tea, cherry, berry forest, chocolate lemon. All of them are not too sweet with smooth texture and the right amount of creaminess, my favorite would be the Thai Tea and Berry Forest, must try!

This one is unlike any gelato you can easily find out there, because you can literally taste a strong beer flavor in a gelato form, I personally enjoyed it so much and would recommend you to try if you are a beer person.

Must must must try. My favorite menu of the day. It is consist of homemade waffle, vanilla gelato, Ferrero, crunch and chocolate sauce. I enjoyed the flavor and texture combination, the sticky chocolate sauce, silky vanilla ice cream, crunchy ferrero and soft waffle were perfect for me.

These little balls are so addicting! Once you start, I guarantee you will find yourself cannot stop munching it. The chicken balls are nicely fried and well seasoned, juicy crunchy with melting cheese inside served with tartar sauce.

Electric Lemon Creamy Pot IDR 39k
Consist of lemon sorbet, cheese cake, corn flakes, popping candy and crumbs resulting a balance sweet sour crunchy yet soft flavor and texture. A perfect dish for cheese cake and lemon lovers.

Salted Caramel Creamy Pot IDR 37k
This one also my favorite, consist of salted caramel, ice cream, milk pudding, corn flakes, crumbs and caramel popcorn. The use of milk pudding is clever because it elevate this whole dish with additional silky jiggling texture in it.

Chick Affogato IDR 35k / Chick Affogatea IDR 35k
Soooo cute I don’t have the heart to eat it >_< this cute little chick is available with two options, Affogato for coffee lovers or Affogatea for tea lovers. Both Affogato and Affogatea were very enjoyable but I personally love the Affogatea more because it was more unique with the use of thai tea.

Overall, AnakJajan enjoyed the menu at North Pole Cafe so much, I like the fact that all of the menu are made without any additive or food coloring and taste not overly sweet. Totally going back for more. Let’s Jajan!!

Inspired by New York Delicatessens, Union Deli offers gourmet sandwiches, artisanal breads, freshly baked pastries along with their famous cakes and pies. It is located at the east mall ground floor inside Central Department store Grand Indonesia.

This one turned out to be our most favorite sandwich that day. The nicely toasted whole wheat bread was stuffed with generous pepper crusted smoked beef brisket, savory peppery yet addicting.

Philly Cheese Steak IDR 125k
Soft baguette with thinly sliced steak, cheese and caramelized onion. AnakJajan enjoyed the soft baguette a lot, soft fluffy while crunchy on the outside, the thinly sliced beef was tender but I personally hope that there will be more cheese in this sandwich because caramelized onion can be quite overpowering.

Balinese Spicy Tuna IDR 80k
Super unique and must try menu! Croissant tuna mayo sandwich with a twist, this is not the ordinary tuna mayo sandwich you usually find out there. They geniusly mixed it with Indonesian Balinese Sambal Matah and it turned out to be a killer combination, sooo good!! The creamy tuna mayo goes really well with the aromatic yet spicy Sambal Matah, AnakJajan totally recommend you to try it.

Hello Sahabat Jajan!! Happy New Year 2015!! Where did you spend your new year holiday?? Last month before going to Japan, AnakJajan had a brunch with food blogger friends at Nomz. It is one of the newly opened hangout place at Grand Indonesia besides Union Deli.

By the way, since it is new year, you might need a new calender, here’s the download link for 2015 calender complete with Indonesian holiday.

Nomz Kitchen & Pastry served various contemporary food along with dazzling patisserie, the person behind Nomz is non other than Chef Arnold Poernomo, famous celebrity chef from Master Chef Indonesia. I personally love the name from this place, simple yet catchy. Nomz!! It is located at Grand Indonesia East Mall Ground Floor, one floor above Uniqlo. The interior itself is casual and neat with brick walls, red, blue and wooden furniture.

AnakJajan and friends ordered some menu, I might say that their dishes are more like fusion Asian style, we had Nomz Bahn Mi IDR 85k, Szechuan Style Crispy Duck IDR 135k, Nomz Crazy Rice IDR 110k, Half Roasted Baby Chicken IDR 85k, along with Urban Geisha IDR 48k, Rasp Be Merry IDR 45k for dessert, all of them taste decent but didn’t scream wow though. Highlight for the main course would be Nomz Crazy Rice, I personally enjoyed the savory topping on top of the rice with tender juicy wagyu beef and also their Szechuan Style Crispy Duck, tender juicy and crispy duck leg served with hoisin sauce and amazing chili sauce, while the dessert would be Baileys Eclair, soft crunchy puff pastry with subtle baileys flavor cream inside, so good!

Rainy season has finally come and what kind of dishes are the most suitable for the rainy season like this? For me would be soupy dishes and noodle just like Legend Of Noodle at Senopati area.

A while ago me, after having our sinful coffee break with martabak, me, Mr. Jajan and our blogger friend Natasha are having hard time deciding where we are going to have our dinner. It was raining hard that night, suddenly Mr. Jajan suggested Legend of Noodle and we immediately agreed.

Legend of Noodle is located in the middle of Senopati and Suryo street South Jakarta. It is a simple restaurant serving various authentic Korean style noodle.

Jajang Myeon IDR 50k
Jajang Myeon is the most popular menu here in Legend of Noodle. This one by far was the tastiest Jajang Myeon AnakJajan ever had, sooo good!! Home made straight noodle with black bean sauce on top. Their sauce was the bomb!! Sweet yet savory with generous amount of caramelized onion and chunks of pork.

Haemul Sujaebi IDR 75k
Besides their famous Jajang Myeon, Haemul Jampong is supposed to be the other popular order here, it is a spicy seafood broth noodle but my friend told me the soup kinda reminds her of spicy instant ramyun noodle soup, that’s why we opted other soup menu which is Haemul Sujaebi, flat noodle served with clear seafood broth. The broth was full of seafood richness but it was kinda bland and boring, on the other side the amount of seafood was super plentiful and fresh.

If you don’t have a big appetite, I suggest you to share it with your friends because all of the menu here are served with a super huge portion.

Overall, Legend of Noodle certainly has the best Jajang Myeon in Jakarta, super recommended! Let’s Jajan!!

I’m always amazed by how fast the restaurant or cafe scene at Senopati area grow, I think almost every time we pass this street there’s always a new establishment opening with another new concept including Amber Chocolate Bar.

Amber Chocolate Bar has already opened since the end of December 2014 and after returning from Japan, I immediately drag my foodie friend Hans to accompany me to visit Amber.

It’s located at Senopati street South Jakarta right across Cacaote. The huge building is covered by the plant thoroughly making it impossible not to be noticed.

There are three floors with 3 distinctive concepts in each floor: Pastry Boutique on the 1st floor with elegant and lux interior, Library with more casual ambiance for dining and Sky Roof Top with luxurious marble bar and 360 degrees view.

Because it was still early in the afternoon and we were quite full, we sat at the 1st floor (Pastry Boutique) and only ordered some cakes along with their signature Hot Chocolate.

Strawberry Mousse IDR 35k
We ordered this one simply because it looks pretty. Flavor wise was decent, not overly sweet with refreshing fruity mousse.

Macaron Raspberry Sandwich IDR 40k
Crunchy huge macaron yet cream and fresh raspberries inside. I love the tanginess from fresh raspberries resulting a balanced sweet flavor.

Chocolate Salt Caramel Pie IDR 40k
This one was our favorite, chocolate mousse kinda texture with crunchy pie crust and melting salted caramel sauce in the middle. Sweet yet savory in every bite, yummy!

Amber Signature Hot Chocolate – Val Jivawa Hot Chocolate Fountain IDR 55k
Luscious, silky smooth yet rich cacao drink flowing from their signature chocolate fountain. The creaminess and bitterness were in perfect composition making it very comforting especially during rainy day. Must try!

Overall, I personally love the concept from Amber, they certainly have a gorgeous and beautiful interior, looking forward for another visit for heavy meal. Let’s Jajan!!

It as been a while since I had dimsum and I’ve been craving for it since I returned from Japan. After having our afternoon snack at Amber, AnakJajan decided to have our dinner at newly opened PAO PAO Liquor Bar & Dim Sum Parlour.

Pao Pao is a liquor bar offering wide range of cocktail selection and also dimsum. AnakJajan personally love the interior concept here, it’s kinda electic style of old school China bar dominated with red and yellow lights. It’s located at Senopati area near Chateau Blanc right beside the newly opened Arraseo.

Even though I love cocktail drink, we didn’t order any alcohol drink since we need to be sober on our way home later, so we ordered three of their signature mocktail, Hustle Stormy IDR 45k, Lychee Little Shanghai IDR 45k, Double Happiness IDR 45k, all of them were fruity, refreshing and not overly sweet, my personal favorite would be the Double Happiness.

We got a complimentary drink from the manager which was their signature cocktail Pina Colada, it was tasty but very strong.

For the dimsum, we had Steamed Dimsum Platter IDR 125k and Fried Dimsum Platter IDR 100k. At first we thought that since this is a liqour bar their dimsum won’t be good but we were wrong!! Both dimsum steamed and fried were soooo good and beyond my expectation, my craving for good dimsum were totally satisfied. Each dimsum were carefully prepared and tasted delicious, not to mention the huge size. I’m craving for it already at this moment while writing this post, need to revisit again soon!

Calling all of Chinese Food and Dimsum Lovers!! There’s a new Dimsum and Chinese Cuisine restaurant opening in PIK, D’Lantern.

D’Lantern is a newly opened restaurant specialized in Chinese Cuisine and Dimsum located at the new developing area of Pantai Indah Kapuk that is Elang Laut area. (Pssst!! They are having 25% discount opening promo at this moment)

Last weekend AnakJajan visited D’Lantern to try their Dimsum and Chinese Cuisine, and let me tell ya the food were seriously tasty.

There are two things that I love the most from this restaurant, first is the use of quality organic vegetables and second is the freshly made by order product including their dimsum.

Frozen dimsum is a big no no here, all of the dimsum here are freshly made by their experienced Chef, that’s why you can clearly taste the quality in each dimsum here.

Siu Mai IDR 26.8k
Simple yet very satisfying, it was juicy and seasoned very well.

Pao Telur Asin IDR 35k
Look at the shiny golden salted eggp0rn!! These fluffy bun were awesomely filled with melting salted egg yolk mixture, sooo good!! Sweet and savory in every bite.

Ceker Ayam IDR 21.8k
The chicken feet were well marinated and very tender. I personally love the seasoning, it has a balance flavor between sweet and savory with the right amount of spices. Finger licking good!

Chan Pao Ayam IDR 22.8k

Chan Pao is a baked version of bun filled with charsiu meat and topped with crunchy polo dough. The buns were fluffy and crunchy at the same time. As for filling there are two version of meat, chicken or pork, I personally enjoyed chicken version more because it was more tender and tastier with crunchy coffee polo on top.

Crunchy fried eggplant seasoned with meatfloss. This was a genious creation of eggplant dish, even myself as a non eggplant lover also hooked and addicted to it.

Beef slices sauteed with black pepper sauce. The seasoning was balance.

Sapo Tahu Seafood IDR 46k
Simple yet comforting dish of fried egg tofu cooked with fresh and perfectly cooked seafood.

Sup Apel IDR 38k
This one was Mr. Jajan’s favorite, warm soup made with apple and fried fish. The soup was hearty and comforting.

Kerang Saus Malaysia Idr 38k
Fresh clams sauteed with Malaysian sauce. The seasoning was finger licking good and taste the best when you eat it with warm bowl of rice. Beware of these little chili, it may look petite but will totally kick you with their spiciness.

Taiwanese Crispy Chicken
Fried battered chicken inspired by crispy chicken from Taiwan. The chicken was juicy and crunchy, dip it in to their sweet spicy sauce for extra flavor.

Ikan Goreng ala Thai
Crunchy and fresh fish seasoned with tangy Thai sauce. Loveeee the Thai seasoning, making this whole dish not too heavy.

Overall AnakJajan were very impressed with the quality and flavor from D’Lantern’s menu, we can clearly see ourselves coming back for more very soon. Let’s Jajan!!

Good news for cake lovers!! There’s a new spot at Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta for cake dessert, Le Epicure Patisserie.

Le Epicure has officially opened since 13 January 2015. They serves various Pastries, Cakes, Coffee, Tea, Blended Drink, Italian Soda, and Mojito with very affordable price IDR 7k – 40k and IDR 310k – IDR 450k for Whole Cakes. It’s located next to Jakarta Taipei School Kelapa Gading.

Their coziest spot is on the second floor outdoot area. You know why?? Because the floor is gorgeously made from glass!! Freaking awesome rite? I personally love this spot a lot and recommend you not to wear dress if you are planning to sit here.

Since it was hot, AnakJajan chose refreshing drink, the lemony minty Blue Mint and lychee berry mix Red Mojito. Both drinks were very refreshing and not too sweet.

AnakJajan had 3 macarons and we personally love the red one the most. It was red velvet macaron with cream cheese filling, crunchy on the outside while moist on the inside with sweet and savory combination.

This one was our favorite. Dark chocolate tart with gooey and rich dark chocolate filling. Love the bittersweet yet not overly sweet flavor.

Fraisir Torte IDR 25k

This pretty looking slice of cake consist of sponge cake, mousse with fresh strawberries and topped with strawberry jam. Fruity and not overly sweet.

Plaisir Sucre IDR 25k
Hazelnut madness!! You can get so many textures and flavors of hazelnut in this scrumptious slice of cake such as hazelnut chocolate ganache, pastry cream, hazelnut chocolate rice crispy, etc. Love the soft, smooth, and crunchy combination of textures in each bite.

Overall, Le Patisserie serves pretty yet affordable cakes and pastries. It definitely can be your option for sweet treats or afternoon break at Kelapa Gading area. Let’s Jajan!!

Yuuuhuuuu!! Another new hangout spot at Senopati – Gunawarman area!! H Gourmet & Vibes.

H Gourmet & Vibes is located at Gunawarman street, near Hayam Wuruk restauant. This place is kinda hard to spot since it’s located inside an unfinished building, I would not know that it has been opened if my friend Cindy didn’t post about it on her instagram. It’s on the 3rd floor, just enter the blue elevator on the left side of building.

The interior inside H Gourmet is rather interesting with abandoned old vintage industrial room concept. View outside the window also lovely with the tall buildings and trees landscape. I didn’t take many photos since my blogger friends were not allowed to walk around and take photos *sighh..

Talking about food and beverage, H Gourmet serves Southern American Soulfood and NYC styled cocktails. Southern American Soulfood?? Hmm I wonder how does it taste. We ordered The Buffalo’s Method IDR 65k, H Stack IDR 115k, Jerky Chicks IDR 85k.

The Buffalo’s Method IDR 65k
This Buffalo style of chicken wings are seasoned with cayenne pepper sauce and butter. It was surprisingly taste very delicious, crunchy juicy and nicely seasoned. It might be perfect if it wasn’t too greasy.

H Stack IDR 115k
AnakJajan actually wanted to order other burger or sandwich but the only meat+bread menu available was H Stack, we got no choice but to try it. It’s consist of 200gr homemade patty, coleslaw, house aioli and home fried chips. The burger tasted decent but the meat was a bit crumbly I wish it was more tender. There were two condiments served with burger, it was very interesting with touch of Indian spices and we personally enjoyed it very much. While the coleslaw tasted wierd, very creamy and kinda bland.

Jerky Chicks IDR 85k
Special Jamaican style house jerk-seasoned grilled chicken and sweet potato fries. It was very unique and tasty, the chicken was juicy, savory and nicely grilled. For the side dish, you can choose rice or sweet potato fries.

Overall, H Gourmet & Vibes offers unique ambiance and interesting dishes, it can be your new hangout option at Gunawarman – Senopati area. Let’s Jajan!!

Have you been to Casadina? This place is such a hidden oasis in the middle of Jakarta, let me tell you why.

Right in the middle of skyscrapers, there’s a cozy restaurant building with huge window opening facing swimming pool and surrounded by green plants. Interior itself also very homey with wooden ceiling and furniture, cozy and relaxing music. This place is a perfect oasis to escape from the bustle of Jakarta.

It’s located literally next to the entrance gate of Taman Rasuna Apartment for tower 17, near Epicentrum Walk mall. Casadina Kitchen & Bakery opens early everyday so you can have your breakfast first before going to office, they serve Asian, Indonesian, Indian, Italian, Grill, Breakfast menu, Pastry, Cake, Bread, etc.

The most popular drink at Casadina is their healthy crush or slushy made with real fruits, veggies, beans, nuts and honey. AnakJajan tried Dragon Snap, Get Skinny and Green Lush, these full of health benefit drinks were very refreshing and tasty with a lil bit of sweetness using natural honey. My personal favorite would be the Green Lush, even though it was made of pok choy vegetable, it tasted fruity and refreshing, very suitable for me because I seldom eat veggie :)

Real mango fruit juice with soda water and mint leaves. Very refreshing and instantly quench my thirst on hot sunny day.

Verde Tagliatelle Chicken IDR 50k
Casadina offers various kind of homemade pasta hare just like this one below, homemade tagliatelle pasta with creamy pesto sauce, grilled chicken and mushroom. The creamy pesto was perfectly balanced and very enjoyable, it was not too creamy and not over powering pesto. Texture of the homemade tagliatelle pasta itself was good.

Spaghettini Pescatore IDR 75k
This one of the new addition of their Italian homemade pasta, seafood homemade spaghetini with three color or spaghetini, yellow original, orange made from red pepper & tomato paste and green made from spinach. The spaghetini was cooked with blackpepper sauce, calamary, dorry fish, smoked salmon and grilled prawn. The seafood was very fresh and I love love loveee the blackpepper seasoning on the grilled prawn a lot, freaking sweet and juicy.

BBQ Smoked Beef Pizza IDR 70k
Thin homemade Italian pizza topped with smoked beef, mushroom, grilled vegetables, BBQ sauce and melting cheese. The pizza was nice, I love the crunchy crust and the use of BBQ sauce in it.

Murgh Makani Butter Chicken IDR 62k
The butter chicken here is one of their most popular and best selling dish, it is a slow cooked masala chicken in creamy tomato gravy served with pratha bread, papadam and raita. We super recommend you to order this one because it was insanely delicious!! The tender butter chicken was very rich in a good way, the tanginess from tomato sauce really brings out the flavor in this dish. This one is Mr. Jajan’s favorite menu, in fact he keeps talking about it and already planning to re-visit Casadina :)

Rogan Josh IDR 65k
Kashmiri aromatic lamb curry cooked with caramelized browned onion. AnakJajan usually not a bit fan of Indian food because of the strong overpowering spices, but both of Indian dishes we had at Casadina were very enjoyable, we love how they mix the spices in the right way without overpowering the whole dish. All Indian dishes are served with homemade pratha bread, papadam and raita, the raita a.k.a yoghurt dipping sauce was da bomb!! Very refreshing and seasoned well it was a perfect condiment to balance the richness of Indian dish.

Besides heavy meal, Casadina also serves various freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes everyday. If you don’t want to have any heavymeal, you can just sit and relax there having cup of coffee or tea with cake/pastries or dessert.

Overall, AnakJajan enjoyed the food and ambiance at Casadina a lot. We can really taste the heart and soul being put into making the food here at Casadina, looking forward for another visit very soon since Mr. Jajan already craving for the butter chicken hahaha. Let’s Jajan!!

Crepe Signature is a brand from Malaysia providing various crepes, beverages and ice cream made from natural and halal ingredients. Besides Malaysia, nowadays you can find Crepe Signature at Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and also Indonesia.

In Indonesia, Crepe Signature has several outlets at Jakarta, Bandung and Solo. They are keep expanding and will be opening more outlets very soon.

The crepes here are very eye catching and interesting with it’s HUGE gigantic size as you can see on the pictures below. Freshly made by order, they are very very crispy and available in various toppings starting from sweet till savory toppings, you can also order Ice Cream Crepe with crunchy crepe as the cone. AnakJajan personally enjoyed the crepes a lot especially the sweet and savory Chocolate Cheese Banana, the crepe was very crunchy and has a very nice yet addicting fragrant.

Hello Sahabat Jajan!! Where do you usually your Sunday Morning? Lazing at home or going out somewhere for tasty brunch?? Well AnakJajan personally always love the idea of Sunday Brunch. This time we will be sharing with you a fabulous place for Sunday brunch which is Orient 8.

Every sunday you can have Sunday Brunch at Orient 8 for IDR 418k++ with non-alcoholic beverages or IDR 538k++ with free flow wine. Orient 8 is a Pan-Asian restaurant inside Hotel Mulia Senayan. They serves various authentic Asian cuisine such as Vietnamese, Thailand and also French cuisine too because French cuisine has a strong influences on Vietnam’s culinary story.

The moment you enter this restaurant, AnakJajan are sure that you will be immediately amazed by the arrangement of the decoration and interior here. It is one of the most pretty looking restaurant AnakJajan have visited so far in Jakarta. Interior inside this restaurant is very gorgeous, classy and elegant in every way.

The concept of Sunday Brunch is buffet style where you can enjoy countless food, but they also have some made by order menu including in the Sunday Brunch Package such as Risotto, Beef Tartare, etc. The dessert spread was simply amazing.

Overall, AnakJajan’s Sunday Brunch at Orient 8 was absolutely unforgettable. It was a fancy brunch filled with delicious food, considering the ambiance and quality of food and wine here, IDR 418k++ with non-alcoholic beverages or IDR 538k++ with free flow wine is quite a steal. Looking forward for another visit. Let’s Jajan!!
