What’s your favorite street food at Bandung?? What kind of food that you always buy from Bandung for your relatives?? Well, AnakJajan have an awesome recommendation for you. That is Martabak Nikmat Andir Bandung!!
Martabak Taro Keju IDR 78k
AnakJajan and foodie friends had an awesome staycation at Hilton Bandung last week (will share about it later) and we had the TASTIEST Martabak ever at Martabak Andir!!
Martabak is Indonesian style sweet pancake with various filling just like cheese, peanut, chocolate. But recently Martabak itself has been evolving into the next level, first with new unique filling such as Nutella, Ovomaltine, etc then the batter itself now also available in innovative flavoring such as greentea, pandan, red velvet or taro.
Here at Martabak Andir you can find various unique Martabak batter such as red for Red Velvet, purple for Taro or green for greentea / pandan. Besides the regular Martabak you can also order Tipis Kering, the thin crunchy version.
Fyi, the owner is super friendly. He was super accomodating in helping us arranging the martabak so we can take as instagenic picture as we can :D
Martabak Taro Keju IDR 78k
The purple color batter came from Taro extract. I love the fact that they use butter instead of margarine and also they don’t add any additional sugar into the batter that’s why it tasted buttery and not as sweet as the usual martabak we had.
The martabak was not too heavy as well because it was not too thick and also not too greasy with just the right amount of butter added.
Martabak Taro Keju IDR 78k
Martabak Pandan Jagung Keju IDR 75k
This one was absolutely the champion and of course instagenic. Green martabak batter with pandan extract and yellow juicy canned corn mixed into the batter then topped with grated cheese and condensed milk.
The pandan flavoring was super fragrant and it tasted even better when the sweetness and juiciness from corn burst into our mouth, heaven!!
Martabak Pandan Jagung Keju IDR 75k
Instead of brownies or pisang molen, you should totally consider bringing this awesome Martabak Andir as souvenir for your relatives. What do you think?? Let’s Jajan!!

Entering Hide & Seek Swillhouse just like entering time machine into the past. The vintage interior concept is fascinating, it is inspired by steampunk technology from 1800.
This place is just sooo handsome! AnakJajan love how well they combine leather couch, dark wooden furniture and vintage machine gear together.
Soybean Truffle Tangy Salad IDR 75k
Fruits and vegetables salad topped with crunchy soybean or tempeh crumble and truffle oil.
Jack Daniel’s Coke Chicken Wings (8pcs) IDR 79k
The fried chicken wings were with Jack Daniel’s bourbon infused and sweet Cola glazed then served with sweet tangy orange dipping sauce. This whole dish only tasted sweet without any saltiness at all, it was kinda funky and weird for us having 100% sweet chicken wings, however this dish has a great potential if only they added a lil bit of salt into the flour batter.
Truffle Chestnut Soup IDR 67k
Hearty bowl of soup, love the smooth texture and comfortness in it but the chestnut chunk was kinda turn off because it was chewy.
Truffle Chestnut Soup IDR 67k

The pork belly confit was ahmazing!! Freaking juicy and tender with crunchy crackling skin. It was serve with aromatic couscous.
Baked Norwegian Salmon Fillet IDR 139k
Baked salmon with goma glazed (black sesame), caramelized butternut pumpkin and aromatic rice pilaf. AnakJajan love how they manage to cook the salmon perfectly with nice pink juicy tender center.
Truffle Cream Orchiette with Pork Belly IDR 105k
This was my favorite, Orchiette pasta cooked with truffle fream, parmesan and pork belly!! Pasta was nicely cooked while the creamy sauce was nice and not too heavy at all with tender pork belly, heaven! AnakJajan high recommend this menu. Fyi besides pork belly you can also choose salmon too.

Last weekend AnakJajan had a very pleasant meal at recently opened Jjang Korean Noodle and Grill at Wolter Monginsidi South Jakarta near Senopati-Gunawarman area.
Bibimbab IDR 55k
Jjang serves various authentic Korean noodle along with other Korean signature dishes with affordable price. All of the menu here contain no pork and no lard which is a great news for our Moslem friends. Even though it contains no pork and no lard, you don’t need to worry because it doesn’t make the food here less palatable, let’s take a look on their menu.
Jjajangmyeon IDR 49k
Jjajangmyeon is a Korean noodle serves with black bean sauce. Although this dish is popular, it is very hard to find Korean restaurant that serves it in Jakarta.
Jjajangmyeon IDR 49kJjajangmyeon IDR 49k
AnakJajan often get questions from our readers regarding this dish asking where they can find Jjajangmyeon and also where they can get halal version of Jjajangmyeon. Well AnakJajan now have the answer, it is Jjang Korean Noodle & Grill. The black bean sauce was cooked with beef and seafood, it tasted savory and very rich, while the noodle itself was homemade by order that’s why it took longer for them to process this menu.
Jjajangmyeon IDR 49kJjajangmyeon IDR 49k
Gamjya Salad IDR 20k
Homemade potato salad, they only prepare 20 portions every day and this menu should not be missed when you are here. The potato salad was very smooth, seasoned well and tasted sweet naturally. Me likey!
Gamjya Salad IDR 20k
Bibimbab IDR 55k
Rice with mixed vegetable and beef serves on top of hot stone bowl. AnakJajan found ourselves cannot stop digging this bowl of rice because it was so good, every components just complete each other very flavorful especially the nicely marinated tender US beef. No wonder Bibimbap is one of their best selling menu here. Messy messy good!
Bibimbab IDR 55kBibimbab IDR 55k
Subak (watermelon) Soju IDR 179k, Yoghurt Soju IDR 179k
Both soju were refreshing, tasty and definitely strong. Our personal favorite would be the Yoghurt Soju.
Budae Jiggae IDR 149k
Budae Jiggae here is pretty awesome and affordable, just look at the huge portion, it can serve 2 until 4 persons. It is a noodle stew with beef stock, Korean chili sauce, vegetables, tteok (Korean rice cake) and various sausages and they directly boil it in front of customer. The broth was hearty and comforting, I love the tteok texture inside the stew, it was springy and not mushy.
Pha Jeon IDR 49k
Korean pancake with generous amount of beef and seafood. Taste the best when you dip it into the tangy sauce.
Pha Jeon IDR 49kPha Jeon IDR 49k

Showa Kinen Park is a very popular destination to visit during spring and autumn. Since it is spring already, AnakJajan decided to share with you our spring memories at Showa Kinen Park – Tachikawa Tokyo.
AnakJajan went there in early May 2014 which was already too late for sakura at Showa Kinen. The reason AnakJajan decided to visit this park is because they were having Flower Festival where they feature wide range of seasonal flowers such as tulip and poppy flowers.
Showa Kinen Park is located at Tachikawa, around 30 minutes by train from Shinjuku station. The park is so large they have several gate entrance. AnakJajan entered Tachikawa Gate that is located right across Tachikawa Station.
Tachikawa
Fyi, if you are planning to visit Tokyo in late April/ early May, I think you still can catch some late bloom Sakura just like us at Shinjuku Gyoen park, you can read the detailed info about Shinjuku Gyoen on our Cherry Blossoms Diary post.
Visiting this park early is highly recommended because Showa Kinen park is absolutely huge!! Trust me!! And also they close early (5pm or 4.30 pm in Nov). AnakJajan didn’t realized that the park is that huge, we went there in the afternoon around 2pm after strolling around Roppongi area and had an amazing quality beef dish at Matsurokuya, we only had 3 hours left before the closing time to explore this park and didn’t manage to explore every area.
As you can see from the picture above, that is just the entrance at Tachikawa gate full of Gingo trees that will look amazing during autumn. That’s why I recommend you to give yourself a full or half day to explore this entire park. They devided the park into 5 main zones, you can walk around or you can also rent bicycles for 410 yen (adult)/ 260 yen (children) for 3 hours at Tachikawa Gate, Nishi Tachikawa Gate and Sunagawa Gate.
Inside Showa Kinen Park you can find variety of themed gardens and woods, you can also find several food stalls, cafes or restaurants inside.
There’s this huge lake in the middle of park where you can rent pedal boat or row boat for 700 Yen (2 people 30 minutes). We saw many visitors enjoy having picnic under the the trees. Don’t forget to get an ekibento at Tachikawa station and have a great picnic there.
Overall even though AnakJajan only had 3 hours to explore Showa Kinen, we enjoyed every single moment. Walking around through the garden while enjoying the beautiful flower scenery just made our afternoon spent well. Will definitely visit this park again someday, maybe during autumn season :)

Finally another Japan travel diary post. I’m very happy and deeply honored that some of you are waiting and enjoying our Japan travel blog posts. This time I’m gonna share with you one of our most memorable places at Tokyo, that is Yanaka.
It took me a while to continue writing our Japan travel post simply because I take it seriously I want to portray and share our experience & love as much as I can with you. It gives me satisfaction and makes smile every time I received sweet messages from blog readers telling me that they enjoyed reading our blog and how it inspires them.
I have received countless of requests for the downloadable version of our Japan Ultimate Guide/ Tips, I’m planning to update the guide by adding more information, hopefully I can get the mood and finish it as soon as possible :)
Yanaka is a district where you can experience the old town of Tokyo. The ambiance is totally different from the modern metropolitan city of Tokyo.
Most of you might already know that Kyoto is very famous for its old town traditional ambiance, well you can get a lil bit of Kyoto atmosphere here more or less.
Yanaka is located at the Northern part of Tokyo, it is within walking distance from Ueno park. AnakJajan took the train because we were too lazy to walk, we arrived at Nippori Station. There are two main attractions for tourist, Yanaka Ginza (5-10 minutes walk from Nippori station) and Yanaka Cemetery (3 minutes walk from Nippori Station), you can see the map once you reached Nippori Station.
Nippori Station
gigantic wild roses
Sometimes getting lost when traveling can turn out to be the best part of traveling just like the experience we had at Yanaka. We were trying to get to Yanaka Ginza yet we took the wrong path to Yanaka Cemetery and unexpectedly found an amazing oldschool neighborhood that is so peaceful and beautiful, just like the scene we saw from Japanese movie or cartoon.
Yanaka Cemetery is an old cemetery from Edo period, the cemetery has a very nice landscape and the street is lined with Cherry Blossoms tree which will look amazing during blooming season.
Yanaka Cemetery
While Yanaka Ginza is a shopping street filled with so many shops opens everyday from 15.00 – 20.00. There are so many tasty looking snack stalls and the snacks are relatively cheap here.
Yanaka Ginza

Yanaka Ginza was very crowded during our visit because it was on golden week, one of most popular and crowded holiday season at Japan.
100 yen shop snack souvenir shop coffee souvenir
At the entrance of Yanaka Ginza, you will find an old Matcha tea house from 1924 Chayutei where you can enjoy matcha drink or try their Matcha Choux. You can easily spot this shop because they are displaying a huge tower of Cream Puff in front of the shop.
Chayutei
AnakJajan had their Matcha Choux JPY 310. The choux dough was very special, it has a unique crunchiness and aroma from the use of brown rice and roasted tea filled with generous amount of velvety smooth matcha greentea the pastry cream that tasted heavenly!! Very smooth, creamy, rich and intense with matcha flavor. So so soo good, even Mr. Jajan a non dessert person loves it so much he decided to buy another one in the afternoon but unfortunately it was sold out so fast, sad max!
Then we bought this sushi from a sushi stall near yanaka ginza runs by an old couple, their passion and love for what they are doing clearly reflected on how this simple looking dish can taste so delicious it warms our heart out.
We ended our trip at Yanaka Ginza by having Ikayaki at this stall located near entrance gate, a Japanese-style hot-plate pizza dish made from squid and flour mixture and topped with teriyaki sauce that cost around 200 – 550 JPY. It took us around 40minutes to queue but the Ikayaki was worth the wait because it tasted soooo unique yet sooo good!! We had two menu, one with mentaiko and the other one sandwiched with rice cracker and filled with melting cheese. Must try!

Shabu2House recently has opened a new Japanese Buffet all you can eat restaurant at Pondok Indah Mall, Kobe.
Kobe by Shabu2House is located at the 2nd floor of Street Gallery Pondok Indah Mall, the newest building addition of Pondok Indah Mall. The restaurant is spacious and elegant with personal Shabu Shabu pot on top of the table.
Kobe is basically buffet all you can eat restaurant therefore they only have two packages of rate Regular or Deluxe. Both packages already including Shabu Shabu, Steak, Sukiyaki, Drink and Dessert, the only difference is the beef quality where Regular package offers Australian beef and Deluxe Package offers premium US beef for Shabu Shabu, Steak and Sukiyaki.
dessert sectionsalad
Talking about the price, it is relatively affordable for all you can eat restaurant, Weekday IDR 149k++ Regular / IDR 249k++ Deluxe and Weekend IDR 177k++ Regular / IDR 299k++ Deluxe with plentiful choices of food, Shabu Shabu, Steak, Sukiyaki, tempura, dimsum, sushi, sashimi, ramen, salad, cakes, macaron, chocolate fountain, ice cream, coffee, tea, etc.
Since this is a Japanese buffet restaurant, almost 80% of the food here are Japanese food, such as Gyudon, Karaage, Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Japanese Curry Rice, Japanese Hamburg Beef, etc. So if you are a big fan of Japanese food, I’m sure you will be very happy here.
Each Shabu Shabu is cooked inside personal Shabu Shabu pot on the table and there are 9 types of soup available for you to choose Original, Curry. Spicy Miso, Miso, Sukiyaki, Kimchi, Collagen, Corn and Tounyu.
AnakJajan had Spicy Miso and Kimchi Shabu Shabu soup, both soup are recommended soup flavor here with warming spicy kick. The kimchi was light, refreshing and spicier than Spicy Miso. While the Spicy miso was my favorite, savory rich with a bit of spiciness. As for the beef, because AnakJajan had Deluxe package, it comes with thinly sliced premium US beef, the beef was so tender it melts in my mouth.
Steak available in four types of seasoning, Demi-glace, Onion, Soyu Butter and Blackpepper. AnakJajan’s premium US beef steak was delicious, we chose Soyu Butter seasoning, the beef was freaking tender and juicy. Fyi, you can have your Shabu Shabu beef and Steak countless times as much as you want!

Dessert is something you must not miss! Besides cake, pudding, macaron, chocolate fountain, they also serve soft cream where you can have unlimited Matcha soft cream as much as you can!! Last weekend AnakJajan had a dinner feast with our foodie friends at Ling Ling. Chinese food is one the food I never get bored with, I’m sure most of you also have the same opinion.
Prawn and Beancurd Cheung Fan IDR 30k
Ling Ling is a modern modern Chinese food and dimsum restaurant that has been opened for around two months at The East building Mega Kuningan. The interior inside this restaurant is mysterious yet elegant with its dimmed light, dark wooden furniture and classic Chinese ornaments.
We had dimsum feast first then followed with main courses and desserts. Dimsum selection at Ling Ling is plentiful starting from steamed, cheung fan, baked, pan-fried, and fried and the great news is it is available whole day so you can have your dimsum for afternoon break or even dinner just like us. We had quite a lot of dimsum and our personal favorite would be the Pork and Prawn Shiu Mai very juicy and flavorful and the Rice Balls filled with melting black sesame or salted egg custard that immediately burst out when you bite it, soooo good!! Don’t forget to dip the dimsum into their signature XO sauce.

I personally love how their ice cream doesn’t melt easily. Pungopang has more waffle crunchy texture while Tai-Parfait has chewy mochi kinda texture, well both were delicious though. While the ice cream itself, Dark Choco was Mr. Jajan’s favorite, the chocolate was very rich with bitter sweet flavor.

AnakJajan with #JKTfoodies friends have visited Medan city for culinary trip recently, most of you that followed our instagram @anakjajan might already know about it.
It is no longer secret that Medan is very popular with its exceptional cuisine that’s why we decided to spend our weekend at Medan with one and only mission, that is to EAT EAT AND EAT!! :) Here’s video footage of our #AnakJajanMEDAN trip.
AnakJajan arrived at Kuala Namu Medan airport, the new airport at Medan that has been operated since 25th July 2013. Kuala Namu Medan airport is located quite far from Medan city around 39 km. Basically there are three options of transportation from airport to the city, car, bus and train. Train will cost you around IDR 100k per person for 40 minutes of ride, while the bus definitely is the cheapest option that will cost you around IDR 15k per person for 45 minutes to 1 hour of ride and the last option by car usually took around 45 minutes to 1 hour of ride, there are many drivers that offer airport – city ride for IDR 150k per car in front of the arrival area.
We rented a car without driver for three days (IDR 250k per day) and we chose this option because it will be more convenient for us to drive around the city doing restaurant hopping by ourselves.
Ucok Durian
Talking about the food, we had a very long long long list because all of us got sooo many recommendations and suggestions on where and what to eat at Medan, it is my turn to share with you our culinary experience at Medan hopefully it can help or inspire you :) Here’s the list:

Finally there’s a new hangout spot at Senopati area, Ms. Choo Brasserie and Bar.
It has been a while since the last time a new restaurant or cafe opened in Senopati area. AnakJajan clearly remember there was a time where new restaurants continuously popping out in Senopati area but lately the phenomenon has slowed down since the beginning of this year.
Ms. Choo is not a new restaurant as a whole, is it actually the new transformation from the previous restaurant Publico with totally new and different concept and menu.
The building is consist of 3 floors with private room on the first floor, smoking area on the second floor and non smoking area on the third floor. Talking about the interior, Ms. Choo is combining eastern and western concept where you can still see some resemblance of western interior from previous restaurant.
Embracing the Asian concept, Ms. Choo also serves Asian cocktails, AnakJajan must say that their cocktails were different and very unique we enjoyed almost all of it, price wise was also pretty affordable for cocktails. Our personal favorite would be the nutritious White Empress that tasted very light, sweet, flowery yet fruity.

Earlier this month, AnakJajan had brunch at Tjap Toean. Tjap Toean is an old fashioned style eating house with unique and nostalgic old school Chinatown interior and concept.
Using brick walls and wooden furniture, the interior is very interesting. We just love the details they put into decorating this place with vintage displays and ornaments such as old Chinese calendar, paper umbrella, vintage poster, etc resulting a nostalgic yet cozy ambiance.
There are 5 outlets of Tjap Toean at this moment, FX Sudirman, Citywalk Sudirman, Plaza Indonesia, Pondok Indah Mall and WTC 2 where some of the outlets also open early in the morning it could be the perfect place for breakfast.
Talking about the food, Tjap Toean offers Chinese ‘nyonya peranakan’ style of cuisine for breakfast, lunch or dinner, light or heavy meals. Besides besides rice or noodle dishes, Tjap Toean also has whole range of ala carte dishes perfect for sharing with friends or family.
